Music to warm your soul on a wintry evening

Posted on: 19 December 2024

Despite the blustery weather outside, little eyes sparkle in the warm light of Christ Church in East Sheen as nervous energy bubbles up in quiet giggles and wiggles of the children’s choirs from Clarendon School and Sheen Mount School.  The students are ready to take the stage and warm our hearts with their joyful Christmas songs.

Such was the cosy atmosphere at The Holly Lodge Centre’s annual Christmas Concert fundraiser on 5th December.  In a tradition of many years, TV Personality, Adrian Mills, guided us through the evening’s program featuring a welcome by Rev. Jonathan Haynes, performances by the two children’s choirs, the Sheen Gate Choir accompanied by organist Makoto James, readings by actress Jackie Piper and closing the evening was a brilliant performance by soprano, Andrea Rodriguez-Gomez, bass-baritone, Harrison Gration and pianist, Weng Soon Tea.  Along the way, the audience got to join in the singing of a few beloved Christmas carols.  During the interval, wreaths created by volunteers from The Holly Lodge Centre were for sale and mince pies graciously provided by Waitrose and Partners were enthusiastically consumed.

The annual Christmas concert is a much-anticipated highlight of our year and wouldn’t be possible without the amazing David Foster who organises the event every year and our intrepid volunteer events team who take on the set up, clean up and everything in between.  If you’ve never been, you must join us next year as it is a heart-warming way to kick off your holiday season.
