Friday, March 14th, saw our annual quiz night transform into a whirlwind of brainpower and fun, healthy competition! One question, in particular, sparked lively debate and a few surprised faces: What was the first thing to pass through the Channel Tunnel? While many might have guessed a high-speed train or a piece of construction equipment, the answer was delightfully unexpected: Paddington Bear! Yes, that’s right! The beloved marmalade-loving bear was officially the first passenger to officially travel through the completed Channel Tunnel during its inauguration ceremony in 1994. This quirky factoid was just one of the many engaging questions that kept our sell out crowd on their toes .
The atmosphere was buzzing – a testament to the enthusiasm of our participants and the masterful quizzing of our host, the ever-charming and engaging Adrian Mills, TV personality and actor.
The night was a resounding success, filled with laughter, friendly competition, and a fantastic sense of community. Our well stocked bar and delectable cheese and meat platters fuelled the intellectual battles, while the fabulous raffle prizes generously donated by our supporters, added an extra layer of excitement.
A massive thank you to Adrian Mills, to Rob and Andrew for concocting a brilliant collection of rounds and questions and to our incredible events team and dedicated volunteers whose tireless efforts make the night possible. And, of course, we also extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who came and supported us. Your participation made it a truly memorable evening.

It was a packed house and we all enjoyed the well stocked bar and lovely spread of assorted meats, cheeses and the fresh bread. Delicious! All of the staff and volunteers were so friendly and helpful, ensuring that a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere was enjoyed by all. All in all, we had an excellent evening We very much look forward to our next visit.”
